Today is the 70th anniversary of the first atomic weapon used in war that was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan. I visited Hiroshima back in January of 1996, which is when I shot this photo. I remember arriving in the city at night by train and checking into our hotel not sure where exactly we were in the city. Our room was on an upper floor and I open the curtains looked to the right and about 1 1/2 blocks away was the building that was ground zero, and in this photo. It was a very sobering feeling that immediately hit me.
