When I graduated from high school and then again from college, I had a 2-3 month summer break period, which I spent time with my oldest brother working on his ranch in Eastern Oregon, cutting and bailing hay. Between high school and college, it was a chance to try something new, work hard, and get excited thinking about the what the next 5 years might have in store, working on my degree in Architecture. After college it was a perfect job to decompress from those 5 years of college, before looking for that first job in Architecture. I told my daughter a week or so ago, who is graduating from college in a couple weeks, take some time, decompress and enjoy life just a little before you start the next big adventure of your life, working for a living.
The photo in this blog is one of the hay bailers from my brothers ranch.
